How the Sanctuary works

Veteran Assistance comes from 3 places:

The Individual

The VA

The Community

Like a three legged stool, each place is critical to providing a stable foundation for veterans to find the support they need to build a productive life and thereby strengthening the community in which they live.  Community is more than an address; it is a place where things happen; it is a place where we grow; it is a sense of belonging; it is a place where you are known. This is The Sanctuary on the Hill.

A sanctuary close to home

Veteran Assistance in the Tri-State Area

Almost 15,000 veterans have returned and live in Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Gibson counties.  While there are many support systems administered through various organizations, there remains a gap in assisting them in finding a perspective that accounts for their experiences, yet helping them find their way home.

The Sanctuary is a community: a community of veterans helping veterans, a community of support for those seeking freedom, a community that shares its knowledge and experience and helps illuminate the path forward.

The Sanctuary hosts programs: from financial literacy classes, personal development sessions, to deep individual or group therapy sessions with licensed professionals, veterans are given resources that move them toward feeling whole again.
